Entrance Activity

Start by filling a wooden bucket with water and use it to resurrect a few plants. Shoot the monster plant once revived to open the gate. Investigate the tree again to discover some money spiders. As you step into the courtyard, prepare to face three slammers and a greenie. Defeat them and then interact with the pinwheel device. Use your Poltergust to spin the lock, which will then unlock the way forward into the hollow tree.

Head to the lobby stairs, where you can use your dark-light on the wall to reveal hidden pipes. Turn up the water pressure to full blast. At the bottom of the stairs, use the dark light again to uncover a secret entry to maintenance. Proceed inside and grow a small plant by diverting water. Use its spiky fruit to destroy the plant ahead and claim the gem from the chest.

Traversing the Wooden Stairway

Move up the wooden stairs after noticing a small passageway and some water at the base level. Encounter a greenie atop some moving steps and another obstructing your path. Reach the top to find a web ball near a torch flame. The professor then instructs you to visit the crypt for a special key.

Shortcut Back to the Ground Floor

Luigi interacts with the hanging web ball to slide back to the ground floor. Use the web balls here to light the main webbing and enter the tree root.

Explore both sides of the hollow tree area to reveal left and right nooks. Find a bucket in one nook, fill it in the central hollow pool, and then water the plant root in the right nook. Flash the resulting plant for your gem.

Entering the Tree Root

The space inside the tree root is small and cramped. Navigate through and grab the two green roots at the end of the path, one hidden behind removable shrubbery. Open a secret compartment that launches you skyward to the Old Graveyard.

In the crypt, use your dark-light device to free Toad from a painting and then take him to the bunker. Before leaving, find a hidden vase on the right side of the room using your dark-light. Defeating the Boo inside will allow you to take Toad back to the graveyard.

Handling Toad's Panic

If Toad refuses to leave the crypt, stun him with the strobulb to calm him down. Upon reaching the Old Graveyard, prepare for a trio of tricky sister ghosts. The strategy involves flashing the peeking ghost and eliminating the small yellow ghost first to create more room. Bat attacks can be mitigated by stunning them with the strobulb for extra heart energy.

Navigating the Coffin and Beyond

After the battle, stun Toad and use your Poltergust to get him into the coffin, as his weight combined with yours will activate the descent to the sewers. Explore the mini-maze game hidden in a coffin to the left, while the right path leads to a chest accessible through fake bars. Proceed to Gardener’s Lab where you assist Toad over water and send him to safety using the old device in this room.
