Good news for Xbox players plagued by the same issue in Baldur's Gate 3 since its unexpected launch at last year's end—developer Larian has confirmed that Microsoft has pinpointed the problem's origin and is set to release a firmware patch in the coming week.
The excitement among Xbox enthusiasts was palpable as Baldur's Gate 3 was unexpectedly released after a prolonged postponement due to complications with the split-screen cooperative feature. However, the initial excitement was quickly dampened for some as reports of saved data loss began to surface, notably after the game crashed—a daunting issue for a game as expansive and intricate as Baldur's Gate 3.
The save bug remained unresolved for weeks after the game's release. While Larian suggested an interim fix to help players circumvent the bug, they also communicated that Microsoft would need to address the issue with a firmware update.
At last, a solution appears to be on the horizon. Earlier today, Larian took to social media to inform players, "Microsoft has determined what's causing the save bug on Xbox and is preparing a firmware update to resolve it." Larian provided additional details: "Players can manually apply the update on January 16th or wait for the global release scheduled a week later."
